Humans vs Users

How should you call the people you design for?

In this talk, Mike Stern mentions how Apple’s designers prefer to talk about Humans instead of Users.

This distinction made an impression on me.

I was trained as a UX Designer, and never assumed there’s anything wrong with the term User.

Now, after some reflection, I see the difference.

Design a product keeping Humans in mind; with all their nuances, needs, complexities, and desires.

You’ll be a more sensitive designer.

And you’ll serve them better.
